The Batangas State University (BatStateU) as a Higher Education Institution recognizes the importance of sustainable development practices through education, governance and management, collaboration and innovation. It emanates from programs, projects, and processes of the University. Hence to continuously champion such fundamental actions, BatStateU established the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) with the goal of supporting regional and global initiatives aimed at meeting the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The primary responsibility of CSD is to ensure that sustainability is an essential component of the university’s core duties of instruction, research, innovation, and extension services, as well as its general administrative and general support services functions.
Spearheaded by the University President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, officials of the Batangas State University-The National Engineering University signed the pledge to support the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals during the first-ever BatStateU Sustainability summit held on January 24, 2023.

The university hopes that through the leaderships of the sustainability champions present in the ceremonial signing, future sustainability endeavors will be supported with great enthusiasm.
