With over 400 public and private school teachers and administrators, DEPSA and FAMAS, both graduate student organizations of College of Teacher Education successfully held a webinar on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus of the webinar was to revitalize graduate students’ awareness of the SDGs with a special emphasis on fostering accessible and quality education for learners in the 21st century.

Dr. Vaberlie P. Mandane-Garcia, the speaker at the event, highlighted the crucial role of teachers and educational institutions in driving progress towards the SDGs. Throughout her discussion, she stressed that “Education for SDGs or ESDGs is the best platform for educational institutions to cultivate sustainability citizens who possess the ability to comprehend the complexities of the world, collaborate effectively, raise their voices, and take meaningful actions for positive change.”

The webinar served as an eye-opening experience for participants, delving into the transformative potential of education when aligned with the principles of sustainability. Dr. Garcia’s insights resonated strongly with the audience, inspiring them to become proactive agents of change within their respective educational communities.

The event’s success underscores the growing interest among graduate students in advocating for sustainable development and demonstrates their commitment to shaping a brighter and more equitable future for the next generation of learners.
