The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) conducted a seminar-workshop titled “Teaching Pedagogies: Integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” on November 24, 2023. The event was part of CAS Week, themed “CASCADE: Collective Action for Sustainable, Committed, and Attainable Development Efforts.” It took place at the HEB AVR, 5th floor, Pablo Borbon Campus, and was attended by faculty members from the college.
The seminar aimed to provide educators with insights and strategies for incorporating the SDGs into their teaching methodologies. Keynote speaker Dr. Vaberlie Mandane-Garcia led the session, offering her expertise on the subject. She also introduced participants to the role and functions of the Center for Sustainable Development Office.
Dr. Mandane-Garcia discussed the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and outlined methods for integrating them into various teaching approaches. Her presentation emphasized practical applications, encouraging educators to align their pedagogies with sustainable development principles.
The event reinforced the institution’s commitment to academic excellence while promoting sustainability in education. By equipping faculty members with the necessary tools, the seminar sought to enhance students’ understanding of global challenges and the role of education in addressing them.
