The Batangas State University recognizes that in its quest for the attainment of sustainable development, it cannot exist in isolation. Sustainable development can only be achieved if there are strong linkages not only across the goals, but also between institutions, governments, companies, NGOs, and people.
With the end goal of revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development, the Batangas State University has been in collaboration with different institutions, both local and international, to develop a partnership-enabling ecosystem to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN). These efforts are manifested through the following:
Collaborating with international partners on matters related to sustainability in environmental and green chemistry
The University has established linkages with other higher educational institutions from different countries to tackle sustainability issues, especially those related to the environment and how research can address the same. One of these is the discussion on the sustainability of coffee farms and coffee industry with the Walailak University, Thailand. Additionally, the University had participated in the EnvChem2021 which is a platform for international research, industries, and students to share the latest research findings related to sustainability in environmental and green chemistry. The latter is in partnership with UniversitiTeknologi MARA, Malaysia.

Participating in activities on sustainability
The University is also an active participant to the International Energy and Electricity Market Business Decision Simulation which was spearheaded by the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP). This competition aims to enhance business application and innovation capabilities to students in the energy and electric power industry and to build platforms for international friendship among university students from all over the world.
Cooperating in Social Innovation Projects
One of the programs of the University, in partnership with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), is the LeX Program (2019). This program encourages each participant to reach out and connect to other people by having an adopted community. Once a community is adopted, participants integrate their skills in the use of Design Thinking Methodology to help them communities in their needs. Further, the University was also invited to collaborate with the Foundation International Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange (TFI SCALE) program. The program aims to enable the participants to gain deeper understanding of cultures and apply their knowledge in finding solutions to community problems.
Partnering for innovative education
The University also strengthened its partnership with Smart Communications Inc. for the smart wireless engineering education program (SWEEP). This aims to enhance further the University’s Engineering and I.T programs which are crucial to achieving sustainable development and empowering communities in the country.
Providing students an avenue where they can be immersed to the best practices of other countries around the globe
Our students have been into student exchange, and internship programs not only locally but also internationally. These programs prepare our students to have the competencies required in the workplace, and the understanding on how cross-cultural diversity affects the world. These programs touch multiple SGDs as students are provided with high-quality education, which in turn is a key gateway out of inequalities, a tool to improve quality of life, and an avenue to develop innovative solutions to the world’s greatest problems.
