One of the mandates of Batangas State University is to actively pursue and conduct sound and science-based research in various fields. Policies were created and implemented to support the research community in the development and implementation of research programs/projects, and utilization and dissemination of research outputs. Systems are established to enable faculty researchers to have active research collaboration and engagement with other academic institutions and external stakeholders, funding agencies, and professional research organizations. Support and incentives were improved to enhance interest among its faculty researchers in conducting quality, high-impact research projects that would contribute to the scientific, technological, and sustainable economic development of the University and the communities in its service areas.

The operation of the Research Office is based on the University Research Manual, which was created to give the standardized high-quality research culture within the university. It is regularly reviewed to further enhance the research management and services provided by the university among its researchers and stakeholders as the major beneficiaries of various research outputs.
